About WowCoach.gg

One dev. One question. "Why did we wipe?"

The Origin Story

Twenty people fight a boss for ten minutes and die. Then you do it again. Dozens of times. After a night of wiping, you upload your combat log and try to figure out what went wrong. The tools give you charts, timelines, damage meters. What they don't give you is answers.

WowCoach exists because of that gap. What if you could just ask "why did we wipe?" and get something like: "Your tank died at 3:47 because they took 340k damage in 2.1 seconds from a debuff that wasn't dispelled. Your priest had Dispel Magic available but cast Prayer of Healing instead."

That's the pitch. That's the whole thing. The rest was six months of engineering.

One Person, Nights and Weekends

WowCoach is built by Brian Morale — a software architect with 20+ years of enterprise experience who's been playing WoW since vanilla. Parser, AI, frontend, backend, infrastructure, a Texas LLC, an EIN chased from the IRS during a partial government shutdown, and a code signing certificate that required hiring a lawyer to prove the company was real. All one person.

The combat log parser was reverse-engineered from scratch — Blizzard's format is effectively undocumented. The AI coaching went through four rounds of optimization, cutting costs by over 95% while improving accuracy. The entire platform runs on AWS serverless.

What Makes Us Different

WarcraftLogs is incredible — we use it ourselves. But WCL is built for players who already speak fluent parse. WowCoach is for everyone else.

Plain-English Coaching

Ask Coach Clutch what happened. Get specific, timestamped answers from your actual combat data. No spreadsheets required.

Real-Time Wipe Analysis

The desktop app detects fight ends, runs AI analysis, and pushes wipe summaries to Discord before the next pull timer expires.

Death Recaps That Work

The exact abilities that killed you, in order, with context. Not a vague damage graph — the full story of your death.

Collaborative Strategy

Fight replays with real-time collaborative drawing. Plan positioning, mark assignments, share with your raid — like Miro for boss strats.

Free to Use, Pay for AI

WowCoach is free. Upload logs, analyze fights, track death breakdowns, view leaderboards, compare percentile rankings, track instance runs — all of it, no paywall. No ads, no data selling.

The only thing that costs money is AI coaching. Every conversation with Coach Clutch, every wipe analysis, every kill summary uses real AI infrastructure that costs real money. Rather than locking core features behind a subscription, we use a credit system — you get 10 free credits on signup, and you can buy more starting at $2.99 for 25. Credits never expire.

For power users, subscriptions bundle credits with perks like priority parsing and real-time analysis. But a subscription is never required. Check out the pricing page for full details.

This is a solo project, not a VC-funded startup. There's no investor money — credits and subscriptions are what keep the servers on, the AI running, and the features shipping.

Built by Listening

The best features weren't in the original plan. Real-time wipe analysis, collaborative fight replay, Discord integration — they came from watching how players actually use the tool during Mythic progression. When an alpha tester asked for instant fight replay with drawing, it shipped in three days. That's the upside of a solo project: your feedback goes directly to the person who builds it.
