What causes the first death on a wipe

The ability behind the first player death of each Mythic wipe. The first death usually starts the wipe.

    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 64% fewer players per minute to Splinters than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: One assigned popper breaks every crate in pairs: two stacks, let the raid-wide bleed drop, then two more; go to three only in quiet moments, never during Blink Nova.
    • Counter: Healers heal off each pair before the next pop and before each Blink Nova.
    • Counter: The whole raid waits by the single Bouncy Mushroom and jumps on it together just before the ring reaches it, about 20-25 s after the bomb mark.
    • Counter: No mushroom left: blink, teleport or leap through the ring, or use an immunity.
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 52% fewer players per minute to Blink Nova than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: Marked player: run at least 20 yards from melee before Iku blinks 7 s later; if Iku is next to Gebbo, go ahead of Gebbo's path, otherwise stay near Iku's spot.
    • Counter: Everyone else stays away from the marked player; healers top the raid, and the popper holds crate pops, before each blink.
  1. Melee hits9%
    • 32% of the players it kills are tanks.
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 74% fewer players per minute to Mighty Thud than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: Line the three marks up away from Nama; the whole raid soaks the first impact from its far side and rides the knockback into the second, then the third.
    • Counter: You are knocked back from the circle's center, so stand on the side facing the next mark.
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 53% fewer players per minute to Malevolent Presence than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: Healers keep everyone topped between mechanics: the pulse lands every 2 s, so anyone left low by raid-wide Splinters, a crate hit or Blink Nova dies to the next few ticks.
    • Counter: Everyone: use a personal defensive, healthstone or potion right after a big hit instead of waiting for healers.
    • Counter: When the fish is fed, watch the floor for the next 5 s and step 3+ yards away from every swirl before it lands.
    • Counter: The flames come from the statues on the walls, not the explorers, so keep moving until the volley ends.
    • Counter: Step out of the marked landing circles; one assigned popper breaks every crate in pairs, lets the raid-wide Splinters drop, then pops the next pair, never leaving a crate 25 s.
    • Counter: The fish crate lands about 25-30 s before each Final Ascension cast; the popper breaks it at once for the fish carrier.

What causes the first death on a wipe

The ability behind the first player death of each Heroic wipe. The first death usually starts the wipe.

    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 63% fewer players per minute to Mighty Thud than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: Split into three soak groups, one per mark; each group stacks on its marked player before the leap, and no mark is ever left empty.
    • Counter: Marks spread out so circles never overlap: one in melee, two at separate ranged spots; the knockback makes soaking two leaps in a row unsafe.
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 41% fewer players per minute to Blast Wave than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: Wait beside a Bouncy Mushroom and jump on it just before the ring reaches you, about 20-25 s after the bomb mark; the ring passes under you.
    • Counter: No mushroom: blink, teleport or leap through the ring, or use an immunity.
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 72% fewer players per minute to Splinters than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: Rotate crate stomps across the crate crew and let your bleed drop before stomping again; physical damage reduction or bleed removal (Evoker, racials) helps at high stacks.
    • Counter: Healers keep crate stompers topped; the bleed plus Malevolent Presence kills a stomper left low.
  1. Melee hits9%
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 90% fewer players per minute to Melee hits than raids that wipe.
    • 38% of the players it kills are tanks.
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 61% fewer players per minute to Malevolent Presence than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: Healers keep everyone topped between mechanics: the pulse lands every 2 s, so anyone left low by a crate hit, Splinters, Blink Nova or Mighty Thud dies to the next few ticks.
    • Counter: Everyone: use a personal defensive, healthstone or potion right after a big hit instead of waiting for healers.
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 36% fewer players per minute to Throw Junk than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: Step out of the marked landing circles, then the assigned crate crew stomps every crate within 25 s, taking turns so no one stacks Splinters.
    • Counter: The fish crate lands about 25-30 s before each Final Ascension cast; break it at once and let the fish carrier take the fish.
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 57% fewer players per minute to Evil Eyes than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: When the fish is fed, watch the floor for the next 5 s and step 3+ yards away from every swirl before it lands.
    • Counter: The flames come from the statues on the walls, not the explorers, so keep moving until the volley ends.
    • Raids that kill The Lost Explorers lose 71% fewer players per minute to Final Ascension than raids that wipe.
    • Counter: Fish carrier: stand in melee range of the chosen explorer from 90 energy and feed the Disgusting Fish before Mor'zahi's 5 s Final Ascension cast finishes.
    • Counter: The fish crate lands about 25-30 s before each cast (first at about 31 s); the crate crew breaks it at once so the carrier holds the fish in time.

About these numbers

Every percentage comes from The Venomous Abyss pulls uploaded to WowCoach since September 1, 2026. A difficulty appears only once there are enough wipes and kills for the shares to hold steady. Counters are WowCoach's coaching notes for each ability. For full fight strategy, read the boss guides at Icy Veins and Wowhead.
